Not that I have anything (conscious) against CD. My CD collection isn't huge. Maybe two hundred at most but I love almost every one of those albums. Maybe 300 if I count all the ones that were stolen. I loved CD all the way into mid 20s. I suppose at that time I was still buying them only because streaming hadn't come along yet (and I didn't want to torrent anymore), so I wanted to buy them to rip. I think having limited exposure also made it seem like there wasn't this vast ocean of cool music to explore. It felt like the bands I knew and liked were it. When I discovered streaming that completely changed. I suppose vinyl is a way of making music special again. You cull the endless stream back down to your best of the best.

200 is a lot, compared to the average person

Like I'd think hmm maybe it is time to get that tattoo. But that would be money I can't spend on CDs

Man, remember the days when you used to go around to someone's house just to listen to an album. It was a completely different way to find and experience new music. The experience of hanging out with your friend had a big impact on how you ended up feeling about that album. You might think... hmm... it's ok, but then you'd talk about it and they would point out all these things you didn't really hear or think about it. Maybe you'd still think it was trash but then again maybe you like this album in a way you would never have otherwise.

i never had that experience
most of the times i'd discover stuff by going out and see random concerts or pick up stuff from the library i never had heard of

Well, that's still a pretty good way to find new music.
