They have the coolest mix of like Progressive Death Metal, Jazz, Modern Orchestral Motiffs (I hear it mostly in the guitar solo) and Psychedelic Rock(?)

lot of this sounds like what all my friends were listening to back in 2003 minus the jazz break but i'm digging it

Have you heard of the band "Mr.Bungle"? I highly recommend them to you. Start out with "Pink Cigarette" then work your way into their older works, like "Carousel" and "Goodbye Sober Day" and "Sweet Charity".
Enjoy the descent into abject insanity.
