Okay. So I'm doing a collab with a very cool and important person and of course I'm shitting myself in fear of screwing up.
OTHER THAN THIS. What's the habit you can't really stop once you start a brand new work?
I clean my desk. Like A LOT. Once everything is tidied up and in perfect order I start a new project.

Ooo this sounds exciting! Do you know the person well?
I don't think I have a ritual so much. Either I procrastinate a lot or I work solidly day in and day out till I have something I like. That's one of the reasons I don't do much creative at the moment. I obsess over the work and forget about just about everything else.

I jump into things and either finish them or leave them hanging for something new.

First I slaughter the black cock...
Was like, man, this seems rather out of character here. My brain is permanently ruined.

I like to study my materials before I begin, which is more of a practical matter than a ritual I guess because any flaws in the wood will affect the final piece. But I do like to have everything I need lined up beforehand so I don't have to get up and find stuff mid-flow.
And I usually if it's something important I'll have a cigarette first to calm my nerves, and verbally advise myself of what I'm about to do. Which usually devolves into a mild-spoken argument with myself about the best way to do it.
