Does anyone have any experience with gouache painting? I only just tried it yesterday for the first time. It's blotchy and bleh. But it's just a practice piece to get some feeling for how the paint works. Maybe we'll be friends in the future.

I had to google. I was totally unfamiliar with gouache. I endorse your experimentation.

I heard they used gouache a lot in older Disney movies.

What got you interested in the medium? Sounds similar to acrylics. Or is that just me being a pain noob? I Know paint goes on canvas or paper and that's about it.

I've seen some artists using it and I just like that matte look it gives. I also like how you can use it thin like aquarelle painting but you can also get it really thick and opaque. It just seemed interesting to try.

Firda, that's pretty fucking tops for a first try with a new medium. You're wicked good and you should be using your talents for good.

Thank you!
I feel like I could have worked more with shading and such. But yeah well maybe next time.

The more practice with a medium the better.

I have a friend on IG who uses gouache a lot, it is absolutely beautiful what he is able to do with it. @henrybakerartwork if you're interested, I promise you won't be disappointed. The kid's a fucking genius with it.
I think your painting is beautiful and gives off very comforting, spiritual vibes.

I'm definitely going to check him out! I'm also following a guy on insta named Justin Donaldson. I love seeing his gouache art. I'd love to pain more with this medium. There's something very satisfying about that creamy texture you can get.
