The original "Fairytale of new york is better"

Depends on which version you're listening to. Shane was sometimes so disconnected that it sounded more like really bad drunk karaoke than a performance of a great original song. I saw a video from 1988 where Kirsty MacColl was kicking ass but Shane didn't even seem to know the words. The original studio version was pretty good, though. I think I probably like the No Use For a Name version because that's the version I came to know first.

True, I grew up with the original and yes I think I knew the video you are on about which was on Top of the Pops. The orginal is pretty "dark" and I once watched the documentary on it and found it to be good. The less said about those who find the lyrics "offensive" the better as it just pisses me off when people get offended. I'm like "Chill out. Shane wrote that song before he asked Kirsty to sing it, it's not as if Shane was like "I'm going to write this song just to offend people"and even Kirsty's mum defended it
