1. The Scientist
There is this mad scientist that lives in a castle far away. He invites a select few people to his castle. They are promised lots of money if they participate in his experiment. These people agree to participate. They go to his lab, where he has these silver helmets that are attached to computers. He calmly tells them that everything is okay, and that the experience will be relaxing and peaceful. The people agree, and sit down in chairs, and put on the helmets. The people begin seeing the same imagery. At first, they are in an alternate world where there's an orange sunset on a tropical beach. But then something weird happens. The imagery changes to a dark city, and there is a black thunderstorm. The people gather together in panic. Suddenly, the people see the face of The Scientist, and he says to them "There is no where you can go now. I control you." Desperately the people run and try to escape. The face of The Scientist appears in the sky for all of them and slyly he says in an eerie voice "I'm always watching you. There's no escape." Finally the people get confused, and they become very disoriented. Then, everything fades away, and just like that, the people are back into the room. The Scientist is standing in the corner, smiling. They are all foggy and disoriented. He asks "Did you all enjoy that?" while smiling. The people revolt against him and strap him down, and shove the helmet onto him. Just as they're about to press the button on the computer to start the simulation, he grins a big grin and says "It's not over, and you are always stuck here". They press the button, but then when they look back at him, he is gone. The room is completely empty. Then, they hear his voice say "This will never end, and you will always be mine". The End.
2.Jeff And The Machine
The Government at the time developed an idea, which would later be very transformative.
It would start with a basic cause, that would become the world's #1 most used item in history.
At first, these machines were relatively bulky.
Only specialized personnel could operate these machines.
These machines would be used to privately transfer information for the military.
Over time, the developers of these machines would create them to be more compact.
Then, one day, it happened.
The Government would allow the public to use these machines.
This would be the event that would change the course of history, forever.
Jeff is 23 years old. Every day, for hours, Jeff uses his machine. Jeff and the rest of society are all addicted to their machines.
Jeff........however, is different.
The reason he is different is because he is a hacker.
He does little things to defy the Government, and he gets away with it.
But, everything changes, one night.
While laying in bed at 10 PM, his machine turns on suddenly.
A quiet message can be heard.
At first, Jeff rolls over, thinking his mind is playing tricks on him.
He closes his eyes, but the message gets louder.
He turns over, and shocked, he sees the face of a man.
Now, the message is more audible.
"Hello, Jeff." the man says.
"We are watching you, and we know everything about you."
The next day, Jeff goes outside, and lights up a cigarette.
Was that all a dream? Did that really happen?
As he's pondering this over, he looks around him.
His street is barren, as usual during this time of day.
This is the time of day when everyone uses their machine.
The machines are so ubiquitous, and are used for most of everyone's daily lives.
They are used in schools, jobs, etc.
Jeff is used to the solitude, and finds a great deal in it.
Suddenly, something odd happens.
A person steps outside. At first, Jeff thinks nothing of it.
But then, Jeff notices something.
This person.
They are acting...................strange.
They seem very distressed.
Suddenly, another person comes outside. And then another. And another.
This keeps happening, until eventually, there is a whole crowd outside.
Everyone is panicked, freaking out.
Finally, Jeff turns to someone.
"What's going on?" says Jeff.
"The machines are all off".
Jeff rushes back inside to look at his machine, and all of a sudden, he stands still.
His heart is racing, and he is frozen with fear.
The machine is now showing the man he saw last night.
"Hello Jeff. We knew you were coming in, and we wanted to have a word with you."
Jeff looks to the doorway, and looks back at the man.
"Never" Jeff whispers, and Jeff runs to the front door. He opens it, and escapes.
Jeff is now running down the street in the crowd. Chaos is everywhere. Jeff pushes people and keeps running until he finally makes it to the woods.
He sits down on a log, trying to catch his breath.
Then, a faint noise can be heard off in a distance.
It begins as a low humming, but gradually gets louder.
It develops into a roaring buzzing, and the trees suddenly get pushed around.
Jeff looks up at the sky, and then he sees it.
Up above him, there is a giant helicopter . It lowers to the ground, and then out come armed soldiers.
They surround him, and tackle him to the ground.
A man appears from the helicopter, dressed in a suit.
No. It couldn't be...............
It's the man from the machine.
"Hello Jeff. It's a shame we had to meet this way"
Jeff replies "Who are you?"
The man pauses for a moment.
"It doesn't matter who I am. We all know about your suspicious activities involving your......................hacking. Due to violation of law, we are going to imprison you for terrorism".
"What?!!!!!!" Jeff cries. Jeff begins crying hysterically.
"Take him away, guards!" the man says.
Jeff is forcefully lifted off the ground, and is taken into the helicopter.
Jeff is taken to the national prison. There, he is forcefully stripped naked, and hosed down with ice water. They provide him with orange clothes, and lock him in his cell.
He sits in his bed, silently crying, when he hears the sound of his room mate.
"Hey, are you Jeff".
Jeff looks up, and sees a skinny man with crystal blue eyes.
"Yeah. Why?" Jeff replies.
The man kneels down.
"I want you to know. You're not in this alone."
Jeff looks at the man, confused.
"What do you mean?" Jeff says.
"I'm in here for hacking too. And I want to let you in on a little secret."
The man gets closer to Jeff. He whispers in his ear.
" I love to read. It's the most dangerous thing a hacker can do. And they have a library here".
The man pauses for a moment and looks at Jeff.
He smiles.
"Well, good night."
The man walks back to his bed, lays down, and falls asleep.
Jeff turns over, so that he's laying on his back, and he stares at the ceiling.
Over the next few days, Jeff and his room mate begin bonding. They talk about politics, hacking, Government.
Then Jeff asks his room mate, "What do you know about.............well........The Man?"
His room mate suddenly gets a morose look on his face.
"Well, for one, I remember The Man and his soldiers killed my family."
He pauses.
"I also know..........................where he lives".
Jeff looks up, and there is an uncomfortable silence between the two.
Finally, Jeff breaks the silence.
"Do............you think you could tell me?"
His room mate smiles.
"It would be an honor."
His room mate grabs a pencil and a piece of paper, and writes down the address.
"Here. If you ever get out of here......I want you to please avenge my family."
Jeff takes the paper. "Certainly." Jeff responds.
They continue casually talking, when, out of nowhere, sirens start blaring.
Fumes of smoke enter the building, and the guards yell "EVERYONE OUT, THE ENTIRE BUILDING IS ON FIRE!"
Jeff smiles to his room mate.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Jeff asks.
"I sure am."
Everyone is escorted out, and Jeff and his room mate make a run. They run into the woods, on top of the mountain, and then look down at the prison, and watch, with pleasure, as the entire building burns down.
They escape the area, and head into the middle of a field.
There is a deserted house, and they go inside of it.
Inside, there is a wall of guns, and a refrigerator with lots of food.
The house has no windows.
They lock the doors, and sleep there.
The very next morning, Jeff wakes up, and he knows what he's gotta do.
He wakes up his room mate, they grab guns, and they go on their way.
They knew what they were going to do.
Finally, they reach his house.
It's a quiet little home, in a quiet neighborhood.
It is now midnight, and they know he is asleep.
They kick down the door, and they look inside.
They see a wall of screens. Thousands of them.
The screens show different people in their homes, being watched without their knowledge.
All of the people were sleeping.
They know what they want to do.
There is a button attached to a video camera in the room that connects to all the screens.
Jeff and his room mate look at each other.
Then, they do it.
They press the button and speak to the camera.
"It's time for you all to wake up. You have been dreaming for too long",
They keep saying this, until finally every on the screens has woken up.
Suddenly, there's a rustle from the kitchen.
Jeff and his room mate look over, and there he is.
It's The Man.
The man smiles at them both.
"Hello boys"
Jeff and his room mate look at each other, and then they point the camera to the man, without the man knowing it.
"You see boys, I am in charge of what everyone sees. I control the lies they believe.
I control.....................reality. And I will put an end to both of you. Forever."
Suddenly, a person on the one of the screens says "Oh no, you won't".
And then more join in.
With shock and horror, The Man looks at the screens. And he sees everyone in the world, looking back at him.
Suddenly, the entire neighborhood storms into the house to see the man.
Then, they look at all the screens.
Then, they look back at the man.
"It's over" they say, and the people take the man, who is screaming and wailing, and throw him in jail.
The remaining people look at Jeff and his room mate, and Jeff and his room mate look at each other.
They pick up the camera, look at the screens and everyone on them, point the camera at themselves, and kiss.
They leave the building, and the entire neighborhood burns the building down.
THE END
3.HE
A dystopian society where every family and individual is supposed to have one book only. There is a religion created by the Government of this society, with a deity that is called "HE". In this book, "HE" is described to be always watching everyone, but "HE" is loving and just. The Government in this society creates different forms of media, each week, instructing what "HE" wants the people to do. There is a main character in this story that realizes privately that "HE" is a metaphor for the Government of the society in this story. At night, Government workers break into people's homes, and provide altered versions of the book that everyone should have. This causes people to have different commands and messages that "HE" wants them to know. The people who are in charge of the Government in this society sometimes change the narratives in this book, to cause arguments. People are distracted, while the Government in this society performs different experiments on these people. If anyone at all questions the nature of the book or what is going on, they are sent to a mental hospital, where there they are drugged and shown different videos with the message written "You WILL do what "HE" says, or you will die". One day, the main character reads their own version of the book, and notice small changes. This continues to happen, and each message progressively gets worse. Finally, one day, the main character opens this book, and reads '"HE" WANTS YOU DEAD". This is written over and over and over again. The main character turns on the T.V., and sees that the only thing on T.V. are messages and shows saying in creepy voices that the main character would be happier if dead; nobody will ever love or like the main character, so they should just end it; the main character would be doing a favor to just kill himself; a man in a show screaming "JUST END IT!!!!!!!!!!" with alarming music playing in the background. Frustrated, the main character grabs the T.V., and smashes it on the ground. The main character suddenly feels full of fear. The main character realizes that no one will believe him or will be too scared to talk about what is going on. Out of fear and panic, the main character flees. The main character grabs the book, escapes the society, and discovers a farm to live at. There, the main character creates a life of happiness and joy. The main character grows old, and before the main character dies, the main character grabs the book, sets it on fire, and screams '"HE DOES NOT CONTROL ME"'. The main character laughs insanely. The End.
